Athens billing review and premium submission services are delivered in conjunction with online benefit enrollment and eligibility features, carrier and vendor communications, and COBRA administration services. Clients have real-time, 24/7 secure access to benefits data and access rights to add and approve new hires, terminations, status changes and benefit elections. This updated information is tracked and communicated to the appropriate carriers and vendors electronically, and it is used in the monthly invoice reconciliation for the most up-to-date billing processing. The coordination of these services through Athens assures the consistency and timeliness of carrier premium payments, COBRA processing, and eligibility status updates.

COBRA Administration Services

Athens' COBRA administration services allow clients to manage the often complicated requirements of COBRA benefits for qualified employees, dependents, and former employees. Upon notice of a qualifying event, COBRA notifications are mailed to the eligible person(s) by Athens.

When an election to continue benefits is received, Athens provides payment coupons and instructions to participants for the ongoing collection and remittance of premiums.

Also included in this service:

  • Letters to participants for late or non-payment of premiums, notice of termination at the end of the COBRA period, and other necessary alerts to meet COBRA regulations.
  • Optional open enrollment fulfillment, alerting participants of benefits or rates in a new coverage period.

Athens also offers a robust benefits communications Web site. This customized, online self-service destination provides benefits information 24/7 to employees; including benefit plan details and comparisons, summary plan descriptions, links to carrier Web sites, and pertinent health news and information from leading professional resources. The wellness portion of the site offers employees extensive access to lifestyle, prevention, and health management tools and information. Other optional features include HR communication postings, newsletters, and an opportunity to securely store personal health records.

Athens Benefits offers clients the opportunity to have Help Desk support where benefit professionals assist employees and client representatives with questions or issue resolution during business hours, through live toll-free access and e-mail.
